WSG is thrilled to collaborate with The San Francisco Wine School, a WSG Approved Program Provider, for a FREE 2-part educational series dedicated to the discovery of the wines of Abruzzo, Italy. These two online events will be hosted by Master Sommelier David Glancy, Andrea Eby, Italian Programs Director at Wine Scholar Guild, and a special guest from the region.
We invite you to come explore the unique history, terroir and to taste Abruzzo's most renowned signature white, rosé, and red wines. Together, we’ll uncover the nuances and salient traits of the wines created by the inhabitants of the land, a place where the enological experience is renewed day after day in the wake of tradition, with an attentive eye on experimentation and consumer tastes.
For this series, you will be special guests of the Consorzio di Tutela Vini d’Abruzzo who is responsible for protecting one of the most authentic resources of the region: its wines! A new generation of producers here are focused on the enhancement of the area and its most important native grape varieties, helping to develop the quality of Abruzzo viticulture. This consortium protects wines with Controlled Designation of Origin such as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC, Abruzzo DOC, Villamagna DOC. It also protects wines with a Typical Geographical Indication.
The activity is part of “The charming taste of Europe”, a special campaign co-funded by the European Union that connects the flavors of wines as well as fresh fruit and introduces the United States and Canada to these exquisite products that evoke European quality, safety, and tradition.
