The online resources are extremely well written and help guide you through the programme, even without an instructor. I would highly recommend this programme to anyone wanting to progress their French wine knowledge to a professional level.

The French Wine Scholar program was a challenging yet approachable way for a casual wine enthusiast like myself to make a meaningful investment in their wine education. I enjoyed the program and exploring new and interesting regions. FWS has opened doors to the wine industry for me and helped me get my foot in the door. I'm excited to see what's next!

The French Wine Scholar Guild course greatly broadened my knowledge of the diverse wine scene in France as well as stimulating my interest in wine regions (Chablis, Beaujolais, and the Southewest )that had always held little interest. This is not a wine tasting course per se, though students do taste wine from wine regions across France; the course educates the student about wine production in the fourteen wine regions in the country. The focus in each region is on climate, geology, soil types, grapes planted, and winemaking styles. It really started me thinking about the reasons behind why chardonnay tastes the way it does in Chablis, and how and why we should all be interested in the Beajolais region, realizing that there is much more to the Gamay grape than the production of Nouveau. I finished the course with a clearer understanding of the variety of French wines and the long history behind wine production throughout the country.

This course was offered as part of my company's continued education program. I felt like I had a strong knowledge base in French Wine and this course just took it to the next level. Great details about each area and the remote learning tools were simple to follow. Great job overall. I think the Spanish Course is next for me.

The Wine Scholar Guild has taken the complex topic of French Wine Studies into a thorough classroom environment. Along with the presentation, the wine tastings throughout the course work allow the student to experience a fair amount of French wine styles in a fairly concise timeline.

This course is essential if you're planning on further studies elsewhere, such as the WSET Diploma, and will give you detailed information on French wines.

I found the FWS manual to be very well written and educationally sound. The flow of history, climate and geology (before even getting into grapes and appellations) really made things click for me- I finally understand Bourgogne! Thanks for offering a challenging and well-rounded program.

Great course! Would recommend for anyone interested in a substantial course on French wine. An especially excellent option for distance learning as it doesn't have a tasting component.

I am really happy with the program provided by the WSG for the FWS course.
But I am just a bit disapointed with the lack of questions about the important/historical people in the history of French wine in the exam it self.
Thank you :)

Overall, I am quite pleased with the coursework through the Wine Scholar Guild. The study materials are top notch and they keep them up to date with the ever changing wine world. Although I did the independent-study version of French Wine Scholar, the Q&A forum was very helpful and I got quick responses to my questions. I would recommend WSG to anyone looking to take a deeper dive into their wine education!

The French Wine Scholar is a thoroughly enjoyable wine certification course that gives context above all. I love learning about why wine is the way it is, along with learning about what it is and where it comes from and FWS really provides that needed background. For anyone looking for an all-encompassing knowledge of French wine, this course is for you. I can't wait to take on the other courses!

The information in the French Wine Scholar program is expertly and beautifully presented, in a manner that even non-wine professionals like me can master. The content is fascinating and fun - I can't wait to sign up for the next course!

I attended FWS at West London School and the program proved to be excellent for the detailed description of the various regions and for the easy explanations of those regions that may seem a bit more complicated (i.e. Bourgogne). The program was clear, well delivered and the wines we tasted were a perfect example of the grape varieties or styles presented by the tutors. The course is perfect for anyone who is not familiar with French Wines or for wine professionals who want to improve their knowledge of French Wines further. I highly recommend the course which is very enjoyable but teaches you an awful lot at the same time.
