Congratulations to Adrian Howick, FWS, for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!
About Adrian:
My passion for wine was fostered from a young age in Australia, when my father (a restaurant maître d’) subscribed me to a local wine magazine in my teens – one I still subscribe to today! Back then, it was difficult to find non-Australian wine in merchants or restaurants – today, living in London, I have access to the whole world of wine! I am fortunate to share my love of wine with my friends – giving me frequent opportunities to indulge in this passion. The knowledge I gain in courses from the likes of WSET and Wine Scholar Guild complements the joy I get from consuming wine with my friends.
I have really enjoyed obtaining the knowledge gained through the wine courses offered by WSET (Level 2 and 3) and Wine Scholar Guild (French Wine Scholar). I believe the French Wine Scholar’s in-depth focus on the country’s wine regions has greatly enhanced the knowledge gained from my WSET courses - as will the Spanish and Italian Wine Scholar courses to come! The two programs are very complimentary – WSET provides you with a broad understanding of the world’s major wine producing countries, with the Wine Scholar Guild allowing you to dive deeper into the traditional wine countries of France, Spain and Italy.
I believe the French Wine Scholar has given me an invaluable in-depth understanding of French wines, which, in turn, has given me much greater confidence in selecting these wines both in-store and on-premises. It is inspiring me to continue to develop my wine knowledge – one country at a time. Who knows, this inspiration may well lead me to a career in wine one day!
