Congratulations to Jimmy Chang, FWS for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors with Taiwan Wine Academy!
About Jimmy:
"I am both a wine enthusiast and a wine professional. I got involved in wine when I was in college where I studied hotel and tourism management at NYU. My passion for F&B got even more concrete when I spent a semester in Paris where I experienced many fabulous meals, wonderful wines, and numerous vineyard visits. Later, I did wine internship at the prestigious restaurant, ‘21’ Club, in Manhattan in conjunction to taking WSET Level three wine course and passed.
Now I am an assistant sommelier working at one of the best French restaurants, Le Mout, in Taiwan. I love interacting with guests, ensuring they enjoy the food and wine pairings, and recommending fine wines to guests during service. In addition, I am in charge of weekly wine list updates, monthly and seasonal inventory, and assist purchasing and wine training for staff. I hope to spread my love for wine and food to a wider crowd in the future, now that international dining has become an entertainment business!
Other than FWS certification, I have also taken Kevin Zraly’s Window’s on the World Wine Course, as well as taken and passed WSET Level 3 Advanced Course. This year, I am also planning to take Court of Master Sommelier’s Introductory and Certified courses. I chose to take FWS because I am a fervent French wine lover. This course has exposed me to a lot more I did not know about the wine regions, cuisines, histories, grape varieties…, which was all very exciting. FWS definitely helped my career in a big way. I recently participated in Best Sommelier of Taiwan in French Wines, not only earned the top 4 spot, but eventually won the whole competition. In December, I will be representing Taiwan to compete at the Asian Region Competition! Many thanks to FWS education".
