Congratulations to Matt Weaver, FWS for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!
About Matt Weaver:
"I first began working in the wine industry after university at both the retail level and later at a winery. I enjoy the process of learning about wine. It can be an admittedly complex product but I find the more I learn about it, the more I appreciate it. I tend to vary between serious hobbyist and wine professional.
I first earned the CSW through the Society of Wine Educators. While I liked learning about all of the different regions, I wanted to focus on France in particular as I studied French in university and spent a couple of months there after graduating. In the future, I would like to become a Certified Sommelier and pursue some of the Master-level programs offered by the Wine Scholar Guild.
I was very excited to study for the FWS exam. I enjoyed learning about the history of France, its appellations and so much more. My instructors Lisa Airey & Sharon McLean were knowledgeable and encouraging. They identified important concepts to understand and made French wine more accessible. I view understanding France as a critical foundation of my wine journey. I’m not sure where it will take me, but I’m appreciating each moment of it."
