Congratulations to Samson Wong, FWS for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors with AWSEC in Hong Kong !
About Samson:
"I have been working in the wine industry for over 9 years mainly in Hong Kong. I established my own company in 2014 in Hong Kong before my world trip. During 2014-2015, I spent 500 days travelling over 38 countries which include 13 wine-producing countries, 39 wine regions, visiting over 160 wineries/estates, and tasting over 2,000 different kinds of wines.
After my long journey, I decided to focus on promoting the wine culture like writing and training, not just trading the wines as commodities. I am now carrying mainly Bordeaux fine wines and Italian wines.
I have got WSET Level 3 Certificate and the Professional Certificate in Wine Assessment and Services in The Open University of Hong Kong.
I prefer FWS to WSET because FWS program covers more history and wine culture of the specific wine-producing countries. The FWS tasting framework is more interesting also less rigid than WSET.
I have just completed the exam of the Italian Wine Scholar Unit 1 in May and I am going to enroll in the Italian Wine Scholar Unit 2 in the 2nd half of this year. I think the online mock exam / self-test questions are very helpful for preparing for the exam. I hope you can provide more online self-practice questions, especially the mock exam questions for the students.
Besides, I think the total classroom-study hours of the FWS program in Hong Kong are among the shortest in the world. I do hope we have longer and more in-depth studies in our classroom-learning program in Hong Kong. And I do hope the instructors should improve their knowledge and understandings of the history and wine culture of the specific wine-producing country, not just focus on the tasting part. I enroll in FWS program because I wish to have more comprehensive, in-depth learning about the history, culture, styles of the wines, not just the tasting skills.
I do hope FWS program will get more and more recognition and reputation in the world, develop more education centers worldwide, and keep providing quality and professional programs in the future"
