Congratulations to Roy Tse, SWS, for achieving highest honors in the Spanish Wine Scholar exam with AWSEC, Hong Kong.
About Roy:
At first, I didn’t know much about wines, and at the time my friends often shared with me many great wines. Eventually, I wanted to figure out why the wines cost so much and I asked myself, how should I choose my own flavours and picked the right one with value for money. That drove me to start my study journey to learn in depth.
Now I’m appointed as a part time educator in AWSEC Hong Kong to further my study through teaching, and also occasionally participate as the host of some tasting events. These allow me to accumulate my knowledge and experience, and get prepared for further development.
I started my study journey with WSET Level 2. Recently I’ve successfully completed DipWSET in Wine and Spirits. Meanwhile, I completed French Wine Scholar and lately Spanish Wine Scholar, and also the courses of Japanese Sake including SSI Int’l Kikisake-shi (國際唎酒師) and the most advanced SSI Sakasho (酒匠).
The courses provided by WSG have their distinctive features. I found them very interesting because more aspects were included that could broaden my knowledge. More precisely to say, all the programs I studied complemented each other. Interesting!
I am going to attend the Master Level Courses of WSG in the near future since there are few advanced options for me to further my studying, in fact.
SWS covered information that broadened my understanding of the whole picture of Spanish wine styles and every aspect of its wine industry. I loved studying the cultures of each region that actually impact the wine styles. After the course, I want to fly to Spain and experience the whole story, great!
