Château de Ferrand

Location
The Libournais - Saint-Émilion
This incredible property is on one of the highest points of Saint-Émilion, a limestone outcrop overlooking the Dordogne valley. As well as a stunning view, the vineyard’s altitude and exposure mean cooler temperatures giving an elegance and tension to the wines.
10 out of the 42ha of this prime Saint-Émilion terroir is not under vine, maintaining the biodiversity including a collection of ancient trees around the château. A huge sculpture of a chewed Bic pen top at the entrance announces the ownership, Baron Bich, of pen and razor fame, bought the property in 1978. It is now run by his daughter and son-in-law with director Gonzague de Lambert, one of the extended family that owns Château de Sales in Pomerol. In 2012, Château de Ferrand was included in the select club of Grand Crus Classés of Saint-Émilion. It’s another Bordeaux property that perfectly illustrates how often tradition meets technology. The château was built in in 1702, the cellar dates back to Louis 14th yet you finish in a stunning ultra-modern tasting room - don’t miss the rotating tasting bar!
