Location
The Libournais - Saint-Émilion
The 13th generation of the Capdemourlin family runs three vineyards here, Château Cap de Mourlin, Château Balestard La Tonnelle Crus Classés of Saint-Émilion and Château Roudier in Montagne Saint-Émilion.
In the family since 1923, Château Balestard La Tonnelle and continuously classified since 1955, it takes its name from the Balestard monk who lived there and the Tonnelle - the 15th century tower at the entrance to the property. 13th generation brother Thierry and François now run the property. New eco cellars were finished just in time for the 2019 harvest under a 360° panoramic terrace, the perfect view point for a master class in right bank geography. It looks across Saint-Émilion, the satellite appellations, Pomerol and Fronsac. Thanks to the new cellar and precision viticulture and wine making it introduced, a second wine, Chanoine de Balestard, was in 2021. Being anchored in the past makes a firm foundation for the future.
