Domaine Rouchier

Christian Rouchier’s wines have rapidly risen in price in recent years and have become difficult to find. It’s understandable – he makes wonderfully authentic, natural-leaning wines from less than 3ha in one of the best villages in Saint-Joseph: Saint-Jean-de-Muzols. Of his two red Saint-Josephs, La Chave (nothing to do with the Hermitage estate of the same name) is the more reliable, tending to be a little fuller and more complete than his cuvée Luc – though both can be excellent. His Vin de France Puat is an unusual blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Chasselas. Soulful wines with a tonic drinkability.
