Famille Isabel Ferrando

One of an increasing number of women winemakers in what was traditionally considered to be a man’s profession, Isabel Ferrando started making wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 2002 when she bought Domaine Saint-Préfert after a successful career in banking. It’s located in lieu-dit Les Serres in the hot south of the appellation, and she has shown the naysayers that brilliant wines of finesse can be made here. She changed the name on her labels from Domaine Saint Préfert to Famille Isabel Ferrando in 2020, at the same time reducing her range of three red cuvées (Classique, Réserve Auguste Favier and Collection Charles Giraud) into one central red Châteauneuf blend. Exceptional whites too.
