Abadía da Cova’s history goes back over a century, when Baldomero Moure Pérez returned from Cuba and planted vines in the small village of Cuñas, on the banks of the Miño River. Over the years, he and his children produced wines and sold them locally, expanding the vineyards and distilling Orjuo, traditional Galician pomace brandy. In 1982, third-generation Evaristo Rodríguez and José Manuel Moure built a new winery and modernized growing and winemaking techniques. Focusing on high-quality wines and spirits, Adegas Moure was instrumental in founding DO Ribeira Sacra in 1996. Today, fourth-generation Paloma, José, and Adrián continue the family legacy of experimentation and pioneering in the vineyard, and have recently expanded into single-parcel bottlings with organic viticulture. Abadía da Cova is not only a reference point for Ribeira Sacra’s history, but undoubtedly a reference point for quality and terroir expression of the Miño River.
