Registration for the SWS online exam-sit

  • The exam is composed of 100 multiple-choice questions and must be completed in 60 minutes.
  • The Spanish Wine Scholar credential will be conferred to those individuals who sit the exam and achieve a score of 75 or higher.
  • Online exam candidates must have a computer (tablet not compatible), a good internet connection, a webcam and a microphone with speakers for proctoring purposes.
  • Candidate has one year from registration date to take the exam. When ready, the candidate may contact two weeks in advance, Andrea McEwan at andrea@winescholarguild.org  to schedule the exam.

The Spanish Wine Scholar has been so far one the best world class experiences at our hometown Houston. It came along with wonderful cultural and fellowship enrichment that made me feel completely immersed in the wine region exploration. The program and teachers provided me with the knowledge and understanding required to be a Scholar but also with the passion to celebrate and embrace the Spanish Wine.

As a WSET Diploma student I found the Wine Scholar Guild (WSG) program on Spanish wines to be the best preparation for tackling the Spain section of D3 with confidence. The materials provided by the Spanish Wine Scholar (SWS) are incredibly useful and comprehensive. Highly recommended!

I learnt a lot about Spanish wine beyond Rioja and Ribero, found new wine areas to explore and new wines to enjoy. Nice to blend this with a little culture, history and geography.

The SWS was thorough and comprehensive extensively covering the history geography grapes and appellations of all of Spains autonomous communities including the Islands. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to delve deeper into Spanish wine.

Detailed programme with logical and clear presentation that allowed confusing information to be absorbed comfortably. Thoroughly enjoyed the various chapters, especially the focus on geographical features, and the comprehensive information in the textbook for study and beyond.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Spanish Wine Scholar program. I completed the course via distance learning. The textbook is thorough and easy to understand. It also functions as a great reference book in regards to Spanish wines. The online resources helped guide my study. I would highly recommend this program.

A fascinating insight into the world of Spanish wines. The course steers you through a very comprehensive study book, tackling each region in a structured way, and there is a wealth of online material to focus your studies and help prepare you for the final examination. All backed up by tastings of delicious Spanish wines in a classroom environment. It was both educational and a lot of fun.

The SWS manual is very well put together. The combination of history and culture along with the wine and vineyard material helps paint a well balanced picture of each area.

The Spanish Wine Scholar course was a great in-depth study of Spanish wine as well as Spanish wine history. The written materials are excellent and the on-line resources that are available really helped with the "need-to-know" aspects of the course. This was the first course I've taken with the Wine Scholar Guild and I look forward to signing up for the next one!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Spanish Wine Scholar program. The instruction and study materials were excellent. I had a lot of fun and now feel like I have a much greater understanding of Spain, It's wines and why they are so unique.

An excellent in approach educational program, providing deep yet not absurd level of knowledge. It covers all the essential elements, from history to culture to wine styles and recent developments. A must-do for every serious wine lover, NOT just every serious Spanish wine lover!
