Taking SWS after having been out of the wine industry for three years reinvigorated my excitement for not only wine but for Spain. It also rekindled my desire to be a wine educator. The Wine Scholar Guild allowed me to dream again and know that it's attainable!

This is the second WSG course I have taken and I look forward to the next one. The programs are wonderfully comprehensive. It was been fun to get some in depth knowledge on one country (or region) at a time. The online study materials are a game changer! The learning modules w short quizzes and flash cards are very helpful to stay on track with the learning objectives. I highly recommend taking a WSG course if you are ready for another serious step of education into the wine world.

In spite of all the external problems in the world in 2020, the class was something to help keep me distracted from all the chaos. I looked forward to going to class every week and want for there to always be in classroom Wine Scholar certification courses. Plesee do not let Zoom lectures and on line learning be the only way. There is something intangible about being in a real classroom with the instructor in front of us. We need to be engaged more in the real world and less in the online world.

SWS is an excellent program. Not only that it does excellent presentation of viticulture, wines and grapes of Spain, but it also gives phenomenal, concise and relevant overview of Spanish history as it relates to vini-viti. Online material is also very well structured, easy to follow and very, very useful. Spanish learning game is good addition, too.

The course was very well structured and the study material interesting, well laid out and easy to understand. Our tuition provider did a great job in making the tastings/tuition both informative and fun, and provided an excellent range of wines - both mainstream and less well-known, in order to give us a broad appreciation of the wine character of each region. My only suggestions for improvement would be the addition of multiple-choice questions for each region within the online material, and the provision of more mock exams - either from WSG directly, or by the tuition provider.

There is no other program like the Wine Scholar Guild that dives as deeply into the countries of France, Italy, and Spain. These programs are not easy, but the knowledge gained is immediately usable and the passion you will develop for each country and their wines is permanent. The Spanish Wine Scholar program is unique and there really is nothing out there that is as thorough. You will learn about every part of Spain, their wines, and their relevant history. I went into the course knowing very little about Spain or Spanish wines, and by the time I tested I felt like I was an expert. This includes Jerez-Xérès-Sherry, which is practically a course on it's own. I can't wait to go to Spain.

I will paraphrase what I wrote to Rick Fisher; I have enjoyed the Spanish Wine Scholar course tremendously. The way the book weaves history, geography, culture and wine is brilliant, and our classroom instructor was excellent.

SWS is an in-depth study that is very well put together and user-friendly. It covers Spain’s vinous history, it’s geography, native varietals and winemaking practices. Challenging, yet very rewarding!

The SWS program gives you an in depth understanding of Spanish wine. From historical influences, to geographical influences, to viticulture techniques you gain in depth knowledge of what influences Spanish wine production. There's so much more to Spanish wine than Rioja and Priorat! I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and breadth of what I learned about Spanish wine. I was already a fan of Albarino and now I'm a fan of Bobal and Txakoli!

Like its other country-specific wine scholar courses, the WSG's Spanish Wine Scholar program provides all the information one could possibly hope to learn relevant to the Spanish wine industry. Thoroughly researched, well-laid out, concisely and precisely written, the textbook is easy to understand, and has one of the funniest stories I've ever read in a scholarly book.

If you are a Spanish wine lover, this is the course for you. There is a lot to absorb, but it is presented in a systematic way. You will gain a much better understanding of the climate, soils, grapes, and winemaking processes in the very diverse regions of Spain.

Very useful course even for Spanish students. May be for these ones it woudn't be necessary to go so deep in geography and history and to go deeper in styles of wine and viticulture and how it is reflected in the wines both in the theoretical and practial level. But this is my subjective opinion as Spanish student. For worldwide students I think is a very well balanced course.

Just completed this superb course. Very impressed with the Wine Scholar Guild country specific course and online content to back up the class experience. I was waiting and looking forward to the launch of the new Spanish wine program. I was also new to the West London Wine School and needed to travel from Cambridge, but it was worth it. The course was presented by Jimmy and he was outstanding in delivering with passion and enthusiasm the course content, the wonderful and extensive range of wonderful wines to taste, accompanied by different Spanish cheeses, cold meats, paella, padron peppers, etc. to match each region. I also learned a lot and was well prepared for the exam this week. I will sign up for further Wine Scholar courses, led by Jimmy at the West London Wine School, starting with France next year and then Italy. If you are interested, like or love wine you will enjoy one of Jimmy's courses. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend.

I want to explain some facts, ‘cause i think you should be know;
Everything has been correct...until the day of the exam.
The person responsible to proctored didn’t have and appropiate attitude.
There was a technical problem at the beginning, and she got in a bad mood, and even told me that “she didn’t have all day”...anyway.
As a student and client, i have no interest in knowing what time she had.
The good manners should never be lost, especially if you paid your fees.
I think remember the exam instructions said it would be corrected at the end.
When i asked to my proctored about this topic she said that wasn’t correct.
Honestly, this part of the program, perhaps one of the most important, hasn’t been pleasant experience for me, a shame.
Finally, I would like to thanks for all the support received at all time, especially to Julien and Rick, thank you for sharing the Spanish wines.
Looking forward to hear about you,
Regards,
Daniel

Visiting Spain's wine country and learning about Spanish wine culture is a challenge to explore on your own. The entire country is covered with significant vineyards, varietals, and wine history. This course puts it all together nicely and in a very comprehensive format. I highly recommend this course for those who have the desire to improve their knowledge about all things Spanish wine.

The Spanish Wine Scholar course has fired up my enthusiasm for Spanish wine (and food!). With a deep-dive into each region, it delivers an excellent overview, combining science, history and key information about the wine types. There is an enough detail to make the course a little challenging (in a good way) but not too much for it to be overwhelming. Because of that, I felt a real sense of achievement when I finished it.
