Located near Cambados, just 2 miles inland from the Ría de Arousa, Bodegas Granbazán was founded by the Otero family in 1981 under the name “Agro de Bazán”. In 1989, the family added the French-influenced manor house that houses the winery today. Granbazán was a pioneer in DO Rías Baixas, using innovative techniques like cold-soaking grapes to extract more aromas and barrel aging—the winery was the first to include a barrel-aged Albariño in its lineup. In 2017, Granbazán was sold to Pedro Martínez, who also owns Bodegas Baigorri in Rioja Alavesa. The winery farms around 12 hectares between its estate vineyards and vineyards managed by up to 80 different families.
