Adegas Valdesil

In the village of Vilamartín de Valdeorras, the Prada family tend some of the oldest documented Godello vineyards, some of which date back to 1885. In the 1990s, the family began to make wine in earnest and recover a few of the old family plots that had been sold or divided up among the family. Francisco Prada Gayoso was the driving force behind this recovery, and today his sons Guillermo, Borja, and Raúl are in charge of the day-to-day operations of Valdesil, named after the Sil River which runs through Valdeorras. They farm around 20 hectares and make white wines from 100% Godello, some of which are single-vineyard, as well as red wines from Mencía.
